Boyhood of Shakespeare”
School was finished for the day, but a few boys lingered at their tasks. One or two, guilty of
misdeeds, were suffering penance. A very few, of studious mind, conned tommorrow's
lessons. One of these, a boy of square build with hair of dark brown, pored over a book, his eyes
moving swiftly along the lines, and then glancing back to read .ertain passages again that they
might remain imprinted upon his memory.
After the class, all students had left the school, except a few boys stayed in the classroom. One
or two boys were doing their reviews. A few boys with love of learning were previewing tommorrow's lessons. One of them, a square boy with dark brown hair was reading a book. He read
quickly line by line, and re-read certain passages to put them in mind.
